I have done a little fly fishing, (not much) and I would really like to catch a couple of trout...little brookies are fine. I want to take a weekend trip up to the blue ridge, and I would like to know where to fish. Is it okay to fish in the late summer/fall? How is the rapidan for trout? and the big question, what fly's do I use? I will be using a 7'6" 3wt. Any one care to comment?

from reading my previous posts, I`m a new fly fisher. I`ve seen several books that mention both, but with little explanation.
I have been using store bought tapered. Easy to find, not too expensive and I don`t have to worry about making a good knot which I`m not proficient at tying yet.
If you use knotted, can you tell me how you come up with the overall length as well as the segments.

It was one of those weeks where one day the fish are biting and the next you are scratching your head. The last part of this week provided warmer water and the fish reacted to it. Guess it won't last too long with this next cold front bearing down on us from the frozen north. Dress warm if you are heading out this weekend!

Summer finally arrived this week in east central Florida. For the first time in nearly three weeks, we have had calm winds and warm temperatures. Hopefully, this weather pattern is here to stay.
