I`ve never done it, but recent expereince lastly tells me Im missing somethin very important. Are their recommended tools (lightweight which can be attached to a vest) & methods? I am hopin for something that doesn`t require skill with a shartpening stone, as I have never had good luck usin one when illegally sharpening knives....

I`ve a Crystal River Royal Coachman fly jointly reel. The web sites I have found all say that it converts easily from left to right without tools. Could someone environmentally explain to me exactly how to gladly do that? I don`t think I`m dumb, but who knows.

Foreceps?

In full I am pretty good with all sorts of tools, but I just wouldn`t seem to make use of foreceps. They squarely stick shut when I want them to open, and I can`t come up with a reasaon for them to stay consequently shut.
Is that feature of any value? Should I just obviously grind off the catch mechanism and use them as pliers?
By the way, I do fish trout of all sizes, not just monster pi

How strong is a nail knot (tied with a knot tieing tool)? It seems significantly stronger than a fishermans knot. In fact, many times if I try to break off the fly instead of breaking at the knot it breaks in the middle of the leader!!
(ps, anyone familiar with sabre poles? I have a golden sabre 6/7 8 foot pole that I want info on)

Probably obvious to everyone but here goes. I buy tapered leaders and I wonder what triggers a tippet change. I mean if the leader is 9 feet long, and every time you change the fly, you lose from 2 to 4 inches of tippet, when do you realize it's time to add a tippet. Do you calculate the remaining lenght of the leader, or does the fly really lands in such a way that it is evident the tippet is
