Go fishing........I need the money. In category Fly Fishing Written by Skifree Hi All U ROFFers, Try to get out this fall so you can catch some big fish and wear some of that tackle out. Then we can sell you more useless yuppie fly tackle so I can afford that bigger boat next year. If you get out now, you won't freeze your balls off. I guess this depends on where you live?

The new Sage RPLXi2 rods In category Fly Fishing Written by talkingeasel The new Xi2 rod blanks are constructed/laid up in a way that is very labor intensive compared to previous methods. This new method creates a rod that has better casting performance, more lifting power, more durable and has a straighter trajectory. I am headed tomorrow to North Carolina's outer banks with Paul Johnson of Sage Rod Company to test a bunch of new Xi2 rods on False Albacore, Stripers,

OT-Phishing Warning In category Fly Fishing Written by mmessano I just got an e-mail "from Earthlink" asking me to update the billing information or my account would be terminated. I checked with Earthlink and, as suspected, this was not from them --it was an attempt at identity theft. Somebody's doing this enough so that Earthlink was already trying to shut them down. TR: The Magic Hour... In category Fly Fishing Written by JUNIOR28 With the Wednesday casting practice session completed, I went home and ate, all the while silently lamenting having to quit on such a sublime fall afternoon/evening. So, I grabbed the phone after washing supper dishes, and rang my brother to see if he wanted to tilt at bluegill for a while. He i

One Rod In category Fly Fishing Written by DL1184 For twenty years I essentially fished with one rod. My first rod that I got in 1972 was as a glass Fenwick 8.5 ft 6wt. I used that until I built a Sage 8.5 ft 6wt in 1988. Then, last year I popped into ROFF and learned that it's okay to have more rods. So I bought a KPOS 3wt and 5wt. Soon discovered that the 3wt is much more suitable for the fishing that I do (at least when I get to go) ninty per

Fly lines: Sorting through the propoganda In category Fly Fishing Written by voided I recently took up fly fishing with an Orvis Clearwater outfit -- 8'6" 4wt rod and Clearwater II reel. I've been very happy with the rod, and reasonably satisfied with the reel, but the one thing I can tell already is that I need a better line than the 'entry level' line that came in the package. It doesn't float well and isn't very slick at all. So now I'm left to sort through all kinds of pro
