Orvis CFO Reels In category Fly Fishing Written by superjessy be a very good resource. I stopped by the Deerfield, IL Orvis shop today and saw that they are selling the CFO reels for 40% off. fly reel design In category Fly Fishing Written by Pophy We have several Mitchell 782 for salmon fishing in NY ...they were discontinued several years ago and are scarse on eBay. Saving antique silk line In category Fly Fishing Written by ray I'd be astounded if this hasn't been hashed out here before, but in the spirit of laziness and convenience, I'll just jump in with it. A friend gave me an old Medalist reel with a bunch of line on it a couple of years back. Its old silk line, probably from the 40s based on a thread last year for dating old Plueger reels. The line is pretty gummy and brittle; a small piece of the tippet broke off

On balance and perceptions In category Fly Fishing Written by Yang In the other thread, I was being a deliberate PITA just for fun, mostly because the issue of rod balance seems to stir such passions here, I couldn't resist the urge to stir the pot. For the record, I don't like single handed rods that don't balance. I prefer the balance point to be under my thumb. Note the word "prefer". It's a personal preference, not an immutable law of physics. When casti

Christmas, rods, etc etc In category Fly Fishing Written by truk77 View this article only This struck home to me when I replaced the handle and an uplocking reel seat on a rod with a new handle and a down locking reel seat. Questions on Redington CT (click and pawl) reel In category Fly Fishing Written by CarlosEberhardt In my quest to join the ranks of gearwhores, I decided to get a 3-wt outfit to add to my 5, 6 and 8. storing the fishing goodies In category Fly Fishing Written by Ivica Letunic I had to drive to a business appointment yesterday and passed some incredibly good looking stretches of river. My dilemma was that I *knew* the fly fishing stuff was in the trunk of the car, and I was tempted to stop along the way.
