I saw some pike in a tributary leading to Lake ontario this morning, so I heard somewhere u can fly fish for pike. So I put a fly on, and sure enough, i caught one pretty nice sized northen pike. after that, i caught 3 perch with a fly (yes, the water was freezing this morning, and some of the rivers were loaded with perch.) Ive never tried it, or even heard of it. later in the day, went fishing

Of course, with fall officially under way, a nice chain of cold fronts brought wind, clouds, spitting showers, and *cool* temps. Still looked quite summerlike in the Minneapolis area and points SE. They are all very good quality wise. I like the reels as much as I like my hardy lrh.
What are people's opinion of them? While they are great products, the warranty's are very discouraging.

I broke my 9 weight tfo on the feather today
I caught a salmon, my line was all the way in, just the 10 feet of leader. I put my pull in the water so I could get a hold of the line to release the salmon, and he made a run and broke my pole just past the mid point
Is it wrong to let your pole down to grab the line? Will temple fork consider this my fault? How does it rate as far as rod ab

I learned so much this spring, summer, and fall fishing on the surface. I hit a bunch of backcountry wild brookie streams in PA, and of course a few in the SNP. This was the first year that I fished almost every weekend, and sometimes both days. So, while I still have much to learn about fishing on top
